La cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, Duomo di Pienza, fu progettata da Bernardo Rossellino e consacrata nel 1462. L'edificio era stato voluto da Papa Pio II e si affaccia sulla piazza a lui intitolata. Sempre qui, in uno spazio molto circoscritto, troviamo anche Palazzo Piccolomini e il Palazzo Vescovile.

The building was commissioned by Pope Pius II and overlooks the square named after him. Once again here, in a very limited space, we also find Palazzo Piccolomini and the Palazzo Vescovile (Bishop's Palace).
